The Liturgy of the Hours

The Liturgy of the Hours, which is none other than the sanctification of the hours of the day, helps us to breathe with the rhythm of the universal Church and to join in its song of praise. One might consider, if the possibility exists, joining with a religious community for Lauds and/or Vespers.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

This is a privileged time spent heart to heart with Jesus Christ, when we can allow ourselves to be flooded by the love of the Father and to taste his infinite mercy.

Short moments of prayer

Prayer before meals, in particular the Angelus or the Our Father at the end of the day.

Short “ejaculatory” prayers, as a brief pause in which to make the Lord present in the very midst of an activity under way, before a difficult meeting or phone call, etc.

Saints and angels

The invocation of our patron saint and guardian angel remains a popular form of prayer that should not be underestimated. Heaven and earth are so close! The FIAT Association is especially devoted to this form of prayer, and in the “Cenacle cells” each member is invited to receive at the beginning of every year the name of a saint, whose life may become a new spiritual discovery and a steady companion for the whole year.

Participation at the Eucharist

Celebrating the Eucharist is always a privileged moment that in no way stands apart from the rest of our life, our joys and our sorrows. It fortifies us in Christ, so that we may increasingly become the salt of the earth.  What matters above all is that, while participating in the Eucharist, we maintain an attitude of openness and receptivity to what God wants to tell us and what He wants to do for each of us through the liturgy of the Word and of the Bread of life. Each Eucharist is a meeting to which God personally invites us.
